How GoiSmile collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Summary: We collect the minimum information needed to connect you with dentists and manage your appointments. We do not sell your data. You can request deletion at any time.
1. Who We Are
GoiSmile ("we", "us", "our") operates a mobile application that connects patients with dental practices. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use the GoiSmile mobile application (the "App").

2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: email address, password (stored as a one-way hash)
- Profile information: full name, date of birth, phone number, address, country, city
- Medical history: allergies, medications, chronic conditions, smoking/alcohol status, other notes you choose to share
- Profile photo: if you upload one
- Insurance: the medical aid provider you select
- Appointments: reasons for visits, preferred dates and times, symptom triage answers
- Messages: content of conversations between you and dentists or clinics
- Reviews: ratings and comments you leave for dentists
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location (only when you tap "Near me") — used once to sort dentists by distance. Not stored.
- Device country and locale — used to display medical aids and prices in your region.
- Basic technical logs — timestamps of requests, error messages, used for security and debugging. Automatically deleted after 30 days.
Health data: Your medical history and triage answers are sensitive. We store them encrypted in transit and at rest, and only share them with the dentist you book with. You can edit or delete them at any time from the App.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and secure your account
- To match you with dentists and confirm appointments
- To enable messaging between you and your chosen dentist
- To display reviews and ratings
- To calculate distances for the "Near me" feature
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and spam
- To send transactional notifications (appointment confirmations, new messages)
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to anyone.
4. Sharing Your Information
We share your information only in these limited cases:
- With your chosen dentist — they see your name, contact, medical history, appointment details, and messages you send them.
- With our infrastructure providers — Supabase hosts our database and file storage. They are a data processor acting on our instructions and do not use your data for their own purposes.
- When legally required — if a court order or legal obligation requires disclosure, we will comply after notifying you where permitted.
5. Data Storage and Security
- All traffic between the App and our servers uses HTTPS (TLS).
- Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. We never see or store your actual password.
- Data is stored on Supabase infrastructure in secure data centres.
- Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel only.
No system is 100% secure. If we ever discover a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you promptly.
6. Data Retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active.
- After you delete your account: personal data is erased immediately. A record of the deletion (email + timestamp) is retained for 90 days for audit purposes.
- Technical logs: retained for 30 days and then deleted.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — see what data we hold about you, directly in the App
- Correct — edit your information in your Profile at any time
- Delete — permanently delete your account and all associated data
- Export — request a copy of your data by emailing support@goismile.com
- Object — contact us if you have concerns about our processing
You can delete your account directly from the App: Profile → Delete my account. If you no longer have the App installed, use our online deletion form.
8. Children
GoiSmile is not intended for children under 13. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has created an account without your consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Cookies and Tracking
The GoiSmile mobile App does not use cookies or third-party trackers. The legal website you are reading uses no cookies and no analytics.
10. International Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own where Supabase operates data centres. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced inside the App. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
